As such, Alumni receive a lifetime discount of 10% on tuition fees for our programs and courses.

*Exclusions & Conditions: To be considered an alumni eligible for the discount, you must have fully completed one of our programs. This excludes the following: biomedical science courses (Medical Terminology, Anatomy & Physiology, Pathophysiology), the creo Express and creo Pro courses, the Leadership Express products and single courses in any of our programs. It also excludes completion of external partner programs and special programs and services such as individual and group coaching and workshops. Alumni discounts cannot be applied to the Health Information Management program, the Food Service & Nutrition Management Program and also cannot be applied to items in our bookstore or other special services such as course extensions or document orders.

Faculty are subject matter experts who work in their respective fields and want to give back by coaching and mentoring new learners. Are you an individual with expertise in one of our program areas, or a healthcare subject that would be relevant for our learners? We regularly look to subject matter experts to advise, review or support the development of content for our programming. If you are interested in sitting on an advisory committee, helping with program updates or new development, contact us to discuss.

Student Awards

Each year, CHA Learning students are eligible to win awards that are designed to recognize excellence in course work. Criteria will differ depending on the course or program.

Health Information Management Association of Alberta Legacy Award
$1000

Bursary awarded annually to the two Alberta resident students in the Health Information Management program, a Year One and a Year Two, with the highest average during the academic year. All assignments and practicums must be completed on schedule to be eligible.

Donor: In honour of the legacy of the Health Information Management Association of Alberta donated a sum of money upon closure, to be set up as a fund for high achieving Alberta HIM students.

The Kerry Johnson Academic Excellence Award (Previously the HIM Graduate of the Year Award)

Each year, CHA Learning will recognize one graduating student who demonstrates exceptional academic performance and professionalism in honour of Dr. Kerry Johnson, one of our long-serving faculty members and distinguished HIM Professional.
The selected graduate will receive a certificate denoting them as the CHA Learning HIM Graduate of the Year and will be awarded free enrolment in either the:

Coding Specialist Program or;
Introduction to Managing and Leading (Course 1 of the Management Essentials Program)

In addition, the student will be named the recipient of the CHIMA Pinnacle Award for CHA Learning Graduating Student of the Year, to be formally recognized by the CHIMA Chapter in which the winner resides.
The winner will be recognized via social media and will have the opportunity to write a blog post for the CHA learning website.

Awarded annually to the Health Information Management student with the highest overall program average who has successfully completed all program requirements on time and has shown exemplary leadership and application of essential competencies in the final practicum project for courses 450 and 452.

MBNU Chapter Student Bursary
$250

Awarded annually to a graduating student residing in Manitoba who has the highest academic standing, is a CHIMA student member and belongs to the Manitoba Nunavut Territory (MBNU) Chapter of CHIMA.
