The People-Centred Care Leadership Certificate program, developed in partnership with Health Standards Organization (HSO), will enable healthcare professionals at all levels to lead healthcare change and improvement in partnership with patients, families and providers. This program is intended for anyone working across the health system continuum, to collaboratively improve the care experience for all involved. This comprehensive program combines leading research and knowledge about people-centred care, engagement and experience available in Canada and worldwide—with concrete, evidence-based and practical tools that learners can apply locally.
Participants will learn how to engage, partner and build relationships that enable people-centred care and will be able to champion culture change in their organization or team. The leadership skills, practical knowledge and capabilities acquired will be immediately applicable in the work environment.
This program also includes opportunities for ongoing self-reflection and practice improvement, application of learning, and interaction with peers and faculty from across Canada in an asynchronous learning environment.

Who should take the People-Centred Care Leadership Program?
This program is intended for healthcare professionals interested in improving their knowledge and skills in actively engaging patients, families and staff in healthcare service delivery and improvement. Anyone, at any role level and working in any part of the continuum of care would benefit from this program. This program is suitable for people who are looking to progress their career to roles in patient engagement, or those simply wanting to add to their current capabilities in a clinical or clinical support role. The audience may include:
- Healthcare providers (nursing, allied health, physicians)
- Clinical leaders and educators
- Quality improvement and patient safety specialists

After completing this program, learners will have demonstrated the capability to lead the design and implementation of healthcare quality, safety and experience improvements and initiatives in partnership with patients and families.

To be successful in the People-Centred Experience and Design program, it is suggested that learners have workplace support so that they can apply what they are learning and complete assignments in a real environment. Learners will be asked for voluntary confirmation of workplace support for your learning, to facilitate the completion of hands-on assignments throughout the program.

English is the language of instruction for all CHA Learning courses. It is therefore recommended that students be competent in reading, writing and speaking English.
Students must have basic computer knowledge and internet navigation skills; and access to a computer with Window 7 or higher.
- Students choosing to use Mac or Linux operating system must have experience using alternate remote access software.

There are no application prerequisites for this course. To enrol:

- Within seven business days you will receive an email with instructions to access the course/program materials and submit your resume and confirmation workplace support
Students must achieve an overall grade of 60% to pass this program.
Each course will require the learner to complete one graded assessment which will be marked by the faculty. Feedback will be provided.
Each unit will require the learner to post a self-reflection or reflection of their learnings to be shared with faculty and peers in the program.
Each section will require the learner to complete a supplementary and complementary learning activity (ungraded) to enhance their learning. Learning activities of different types will be included, such as relevant research, best practice examples, videos, etc.
In addition to the above, learners will be encouraged to keep a personal journal as they work through the program (resources and guidance provided).
The final project will be a summative, applied assessment of learning throughout the program.
CHA Learning will award students a certificate for successful completion of the program.
